Magazine Review
As seen in Truck Model World Magazine, U.K. July/August 2016 Edition, by Steven Downes. www.truckmodelworld.com
When it comes to highly detailed and realistic models, Fire Replicas has once again delivered with a stunning representation of the in-use Tysons Truck 429 from the Fairfax County fire and rescue department. Based on the Pierce® Velocity® chassis, this tractor drawn aerial is fitted with a 4-section 100’ ladder and powered by a Detroit DD13 engine delivering 500hp.
The model has an impressive size, measuring 14.5” x 2.5” x 3” and has been constructed from 587 individual parts in high def resin, wire, stainless steel, rubber and other composites which result in a museum quality replica exacting in every detail to the original. As with the other models in the range, the custom packaging consisting of a fully lined base with Perspex cover and photo-etched name plate depicting the department and truck name.
The tractor unit has a pronounced front grill with the stars & stripes flag graphic placed behind the chromed frame with a textured diamond plate finish on all standing areas. Clear and tinted plastic lenses for the lighting are used to good effect, as are the various grab handles located along the sides of the body. The clear front and side windows allow for glimpses of the interior, where the grey finished surround encases the driver’s station. You can also make out the crew seating in the rear of the cabin.
The rear chassis has a number of compartments, with the door frames accentuated with silver pin lines and photo-etch door handles which really do look the part. The design allows for storage of extension ladders on both sides and even here, attention to detail is spot on. Access to the tiller cabin is to the rear on the left side only, and the access steps are textured with grab rails finished with silver joints for total realism. The tiller cabin has a fully finished interior with both clear and tinted windows fitted to the frame. Even here, exacting details include the photo-etch screen wiper, grab rails and a number of small lights, all expertly installed.
One of the most interesting aspects of the replica is the way the ladder has been constructed. True to scale, the thickness of the stainless steel ladder sections is an impressive 0.6mm with a water tube running along the underside, terminating with the spray nozzle at the tip of the ladder which has orange painted hand rails. The platform to which the ladder is attached has tiny safety chains and railings which all have the joints painted in silver which again shows the exacting levels of realism. The application of the white stripes along the sides of the model is flawless with a number of tiny safety and instructional labels located throughout the model, even the extension markings have been printed onto the ladder while the Tysons Corner and Fairfax County emblems are accurately replicated on the sides of the tractor.

This first tiller is a beauty
Just received this rig and it's really amazing. Wonderfully detailed and nice color, well protected in its display case. Have a look at the barcode on the cabine and you'll see how fine it's been made: it really works! Simply a need to have for each collector of fire trucks and one of the most beautiful items in my collection! Brilliant job and now looking forward to ordering Kern County's tiller.

My 1st arrival
The Fairfax TDA arrived yesterday, my first from Fire Replicas. I am a hardcore fire apparatus model collector......just ask my wife! I have been fortunate to be able to have my home Study built out with 2 walls of glassed and lighted bookcases to house my collection. It includes Code 3 and all of the Diamond Plate releases, Ashton, TWH, Corgi, First Gear, Conrad, Smith, Franklin Mint, Danbury Mint, Ertl and DeHaines. The Fairfax TDA measures up in to any and every comparison and evaluation. The attention to detail is amazing and delivers on everything promised on the Fire Replicas website. The only challenge I face is removing it from the base and displaying it in the bookcases. The Fire Replica models will be standout additions to my collection. I can't wait until I receive the next release from my pre-order.

My first piece
The Fairfax is very nice. Fire replicas has filled a void left by TWH, Danbury and Franklin Mints and Code 3. Fire Replicas states they are Museum Grade. I love these, but the painted rims, mirrors and headlight buckets cheapen the model. Chrome plastic would be so much nicer and add quality over silver painted pieces. I look forward to future releases.

A firefighters dream gift
I am a firefighter from western pa. and I received my Fairfax County tiller and it just takes two words to describe this truck..exquisite perfection. It is impossible to describe just how extensive the detail is. It is like looking at the actual truck. My wife bought me the PGFD Courage engine and now I am hooked. These are fantastic realistic replicas and if you purchase one you will be thrilled. The quality is unmatched it is certainly worth its price. Thank you Fire Replicas for providing top quality new fire truck replicas for the serious fire service collectors, such as first responders or anyone with an interest in truck model collecting. These trucks are as nice as any other fire trucks produced and I have a large collection so I know what I am talking about. So if you want the finest, you want Fire Replicas. They are the best. Don't settle for less.

Museum Quality in 1/50th scale
I must say that Fire Replicas has done a superb job of of capturing every detail of the real Fairfax County Tysons Truck 429 and replicating it in miniature. Their fine Stainless steel ladder work puts it into perfect scale. While you notice the obvious quality of the entire model, look close at some of the minute details such as the realistic wiper blades or the fifth wheel detail under the deck. It is all the little details that add up to a superior replica. On another note, their models have the best packaging I have ever seen. I have unpacked a lot of different replicas and have seen some nice models damaged by simply trying to get them out of their box. Fire Replicas display cases are also second to none. These are must have replicas for the serious fire apparatus replica collector. I can not wait to see their future releases.

Fire Relplicas
The Fairfax tiller arrived yesterday along with the Miami-Dade PUC, and they are everything we could hope for. These are museum quality models. They were well packaged to begin with, both in very nice display cases. The detail in the models is excellent which shows how much research has gone into them. We can expect some great additions to our collections in the coming months. Keep up the good work!

Fairfax County truck 429
Excellent model. I have been collecting model fire trucks for 30 years. I have Franklin Mint, Corgi, TWH and Code 3 mostly and a large collection of kits and detailing parts so I know my fire truck models. Not to mention I was a firefighter as was my father and grandfather before me. These are definitely high quality models. The detail is great. I especially love the included display case. I am looking forward to the future releases that I have already pre-ordered two more models. I have also purchased one of the PGFD engine 805. I really like this model as I was a firefighter in PG county. The only thing that concerns me is that my wife is going to kill me when the other two boxes show up next year. Definitely worth the money.

Fairfax county truck 429
I just received my Fairfax County tiller today and I'm at a loss for words. The detail on this model is just unbelievable. I've collected a great many fire apparatus models, as well as scratch built for years, but I've never seen anything so detailed on such a small scale ever...even the case is fantastic. Great job Fire Replicas, keep up the excellent work I look forward to your future releases!

Fairfax Truck 429 - A Work Of Art !!
Received my order last Friday. I have a son and son-in-law who are Professional Firefighters, the latter being a Firefighter Paramedic with Fairfax County. Last Christmas, I decided to start them both a fire truck collection. Giving them a truck each year that honors their profession and their commitment to others. The Fairfax Truck 429 is a WORK OF ART. I'm amazed at the extreme detail that these models have, right down to the decaling. This is an expensive model but well worth it. Certainly will be a prized collectable for anyone who purchases one. Thanks to Nick and all the folks at Fire Replicas for bringing this model to fruition. I will certainly purchase more models in the future.

Fairfax Tysons Truck 429
This is one of the nicest fire apparatus I have. The detail is superb. I have been waiting to get this model with much anticipation. I am not disappointed one bit. I still cannot get over the quality of the display case it and the other models come in. Fire Replicas has done an excellent job on this piece. The customer service given is a clear example of what other companies should model themselves on. Great job Fire Replicas.
