Los Angeles County E76, 2014 KME Predator

Posted by Martin MacKinnon on 3rd Apr 2023

I chose E76, since I used to go with my buddy, Bill, to visit his Uncle Jack in Pasadena. Bill's Uncle Jack retired as a vice president of Union Oil ("Union 76"). Also, although Pasadena has its own fire department, it's geographically located within Los Angeles County. So, seeing a rig with the Union 76 style script for the company identification number made this a must-buy purchase. Although I have enough Fire Replicas models that I should be jaded, I'm still very impressed by the consistently high standards of quality associated with the production of their offerings. Especially, regarding the paint schemes. The crispness of the colour separation is consistently precise. On this particular model, the vertical striping on the cab & body with the zigzags on the compartments at the front of the body, as well as the chevrons on the rear of the body must’ve been a challenge to replicate. However, they’ve been done exceptionally well, as usual. The presence of both dual booster reels AND crosslays make these L.A. County rigs rather unique & thereby highly interesting.

    Engine 76

The detail on this Engine is what progress looks like, from the beginning of when Fire Replicas started out until now 6 years later, the detail is amazing, paint is flawless, the smallest of pieces and detail is dead on, the " 76 " in the grille just pops, if your on the fence with this one get it while its still in stock, you wont be disappointed.
