Rescue Operations Logistics 1 and 2 for FDNY Special Operations Command are limited in production to 125 and 100 units respectively. Each 1:50 scale models is hand-crafted using over 400 intricately detailed parts and includes a display-ready case. See below for more information.

The Logistics rig (called SOC Logistics) is kept at SOC HQ on Roosevelt Island. It responds citywide to all major emergencies or when special called. It was designed to augment the rescue and squad companies at a collapse or confined space incident of prolonged operation. Logs 1 was the main rig. Logs 2 is the spare, and is usually empty. That one is kept at the Rescue Operations warehouse Brooklyn unless it is needed for anything. The Logistics rig is staffed by 1 firefighter and 1 officer, and works with the rescue and squad companies under the direction of the rescue battalion chief at an incident. The below pictures are of the inside of the rig and the equipment it carries.

1 - This picture has 2 rail carts. The one that has the red strap around it is the Nolan cart. This is 2 pieces and is brought down onto the subway track and assembled there. It is just a flat cart which can be used to move equipment. It is people powered, must be pushed or pulled. The one next to it, where you can see the seat, is called the Bance cart. This is also for the subways, however it is battery powered. There are 6 batteries that must get installed and it will give the operator several hours of use. There are attachments that are also in the rig to hook up the Nolan Cart to the Bance cart.

2 - This shelving unit just has an assortment of hand tools. The top shelf has an assortment of ratchet straps, electrical extension cords, and electrical adapters. The next shelf down, the 2 red tool boxes on the lext had air chisels in them, powered pneumatically. the red bag to the right of it is a BLS medical bag. The boxes to the right of that are saw blades for the partner saw. In total, the rig has 50 wood cutting blades, 20 metal cutting blades, and 5 masonry blades. The next shelf down on the left are 2 battery operated nail guns, then next to them are a few sawzalls. To the right of them is an assortment of collapsible shovels and drill attachments. On the floor is the heat wagon, that will push hot air. This can be used for a variety of reasons, the main purpose it is on the rig though is for a confined space incident in the colder weather. It can be use to heat the area. It works on propane, however the blower is electric and there is very little CO given off by it. There is also a 20' extension hose to put on the end of it to direct the heat wherever it is needed.

3- More assorted hand tools. In the grey bins are knee and elbow pads as well as dust masks. The second shelf down on the left is a hydraulic Hurst tool. The brown things on the shelf are called RoboPaks. Those are used to plug into a battery operated tool (like a Dewalt) and that will give you a much longer use time than the standard battery. The 6 yellow cases on the right are portable battery operated telescoping floodlights. They are adjustable brightness, good for up to 5 hours.

4 - This is the battery charging area. The silver boxes on the bottom 2 shelves are the batteries for the Bance cart, the electric subway cart. The yellow boxes are the chargers for them. The rig carries 24 batteries for the Bance cart. We have 2 Bance carts, each one takes 6 batteries. At a prolonged operation, when the first 12 go dead we can recharge them while the second 12 are being used. There is also an assortment of Dewalt battery chargers and batteries ready to go. As long as the rig can get next to a power source, we can plug the rig in and all of the batteries will charger right in the rig where they are. There are 2 portable tables on top of the shelving unit in this picture. If we have to set up a decent way away from the rig, we can use those tables to set up the chargers on. If we have to set up remotely, or there is no power near the rig, we can use the generator in the bottom of the picture to supply the rig with power and charge the batteries.

5 - A toolbox with more hand tools. We use this as a workbench if we have to do field repairs on anything. If a saw breaks down for example.

6 - This has the other Bance cart and the Nolan cart is behind the 5 gallon buckets. There are several rigs throughout the city that have Nolan carts on them, however the Logistics rig is the only one in the city that has the Bance carts. There are 75 of the buckets, these can be used as a bucket brigade to remove debris from a collapse when working in close proximity to patients.

7 - These yellow things are the subway Emergency Escape Device. If you look at the top on the right hand side, you will see a notch. If that is placed in the doorway of a subway car and the other end placed on the ground, it forms a step ladder for people to get off the train and onto the ground safely. You can see the steps on the left hand side of the device as it is standing upright in the picture. The right hand side of the device, the side where the notch is, is flat. That side is used to form a bridge between two subway trains. If a train was disable, we can pull another subway train next to the disable one, and put this device in the doorways of both trains so that people can walk safely from one train to the other.  The boat as it is stored on the rig, is kept in a crate with all the attachments and everything it needs to be put into operation.  On the passenger side of the Logs 1 rig, the main rig, you will notice 1 big door and 2 smaller doors.  The 2 smaller doors are the main access points to get into the back of the rig.  If you open the big door, that's where the crate is that has the boat.  The Zodiak picture is the boat when we took it off one day just to inflate it and inspect it. FDNY Rescue Operations Logistics 1 and 2 are built on the International 7400 6x4 chassis and comprised of over 275 intricately detailed parts. After 16 months of development, these parts are assembled by a team of 35 skilled men and women over a 3-week period. The preceding development work includes photography, 3D Design, 3D printed prototypes, tooling models and masters and finally, decorated prototypes. Every part in the replica is designed, fabricated or cast, painted and decorated before assembly can begin.
