FDNY L119, 1969 Mack C Aerialscope.
My first Fire Replicas Mack C-Series model & 3rd Aerialscope. It's fascinating to see how a great design has stood the test of time. There have been upgrades to be sure, but without a solid foundation, you can't keep making ongoing improvements. We wouldn't still be seeing Aerialscope tower ladders if the original design hadn't been viable. The first Mack C Aerialscope joined the FDNY in 1964, just short of 60 years ago & was an immediate hit, by all accounts. Now, regarding the model, I appreciate all the additional detail pieces on the model: the shovel & the traffic cone in the open bin on top of the body, the scaling (pompier) ladder on the officer's side of the body, the 2 "cans" on each side of the rig, near the jump seat entrances, the 2 spotlights in the bucket, the stokes basket with bundled hose, & the control pedestal on the turntable which had a unique design on the 1969 Mack C Aerialscopes. Another welcome addition to my collection. Hopefully, we'll see some more Fire Replicas creations of FDNY Aerialscopes, like the Mack CF Aerialscopes with tandem rear axles, the 4 door Mack CF 95' versions, & the FWD/Saulsbury/Baker Aerialscopes with the single jack in the front bumper area.
