FDNY 1959 Mack B Searchlight 1

Another outstanding " Golden Oldie" model from Fire Replicas !!!!! This model is as close to the actual rig as far as details from the pictures of the real vehicle online I compared it to....A great addition to your collection....The searchlights and emergency lights have lenses instead of painted ones...Can't find anything to complain about this model !!!!!!! Love these old rigs that Fire Replicas is producing and look forward to future releases of old rigs....

Another great model of a truly unique rig that must have performed yeoman service for the FDNY during its long career. A real throwback to another era when scene lighting was usually provided by apparatus that specialized in that application. Nowadays, scene lighting is still handled by dedicated apparatus, or dual-purpose rigs, like Air & Light Units, but utilizing light towers, instead. Light towers also often appear now on standard pumpers & aerials. The Mack B Model has a timeless appeal. It's one of the most attractive truck designs that have ever been produced. The Mack B Models just exude ruggedness & a ready to go to work character, while doing so in an aesthetically pleasing manner. Although Fire Replicas does a great job of showcasing the details of their offerings, via extensive photography, some details only become apparent once you're able to hold the model in your hands so that you can scrutinize it from all angles. There's always great satisfaction in discovering some new feature that you'd missed beforehand. For example, the wires coiled around the searchlight bases & plugged into outlets on the inner walls of the body are such fine details that they could easily be missed if not for the ability to make a close inspection of the model. Also, the single handles on the 6 smaller searchlights & the twin handles on the 2 larger searchlights. Then too, there's the Mack bulldog on the nose of the hood, which although very small, is still readily recognizable. I keep looking for errors & omissions on the models that I purchase, but it's an exercise in futility. Again, the scrutineers at Fire Replicas must have an exceptional attention to detail. OK- This is my 250th Fire Replicas model but my very first review. Obviously I love the quality of the products FR produces but I have been waiting a long time for this one to be made but the wait was worth it! Though small in size it’s huge in detail and craftsmanship. The closer you look the more it becomes apparent who good this model is and like every I’ve purchased previously, this one will be proudly displayed on my shelf.

Just received this museum grade replica in classic fashion from Fire Replicas. Their standard in the modeling industry is par to none. This exact replica brings me back full circle to my youth. Looking out my window and seeing it streaming down 9th Ave on a run in Manhattan. Fast forward 35 years later I had the opportunity to visit the FDNY museum with my family and seeing it as a static museum piece.
