History of Engine 82 courtesy of Joe O'Brien - Engine 82 was organized in 1897, in a brand new 2 story wood frame fire house in Burnside. The Engine was put in service to protect the buildings of the Illinois Central Railroad, and the area being built for residential housing.

 
In 1916 the engine and hose wagon moved into a new and the current firehouse at 817 E. 91st. As the community now growing in 1927, an addition was done to allow for a Truck company in the firehouse. Truck 42 was organized here in 1928.
The massive Illinois Central Railroad repair shops located south of 95th street. are long gone and now the Chicago State University sits on that property. Burnside population exploded during that railroad boom.
 
This is the first replica done for Engine 82. Flying Manpower Squad 1 would have responded with Engine 82 back in the day.
