The American LaFrance Trucks that Chicago Fire Department used in the 1970's were truly classic. Producing replicas of these beautiful rigs small enough to take home, is a painstaking process. Over 18 months, each of the hundreds of intricately detailed parts are designed, cast or fabricated, painted, decorated, and trimmed...then organized in small bins, ready for assembly. There is no substitute for the laborious tasks that each of the 35 skilled men and women perform. It is a sight to see as each team member patiently adheres each part to another, consistently analyzing the end result. As you scroll down the assembly pictures, take notice of the parts on each workstation and you will gain a greater appreciation for the process. And don't forget to add these Classic American LaFrance Ladder Chiefs to your Chicago collection.

Historical Downtown Chicago Truck!
In Chicago's First District one could find Station 1 right off of Wells Street in the heart of the South Loop of the Downtown area. I visited there several times as a great bookstore was nearby for me to visit. These buffing trips were conducted in the latter part of the 1970's. The station housed Aerial 1, Engine 1, and Ambulance 41. The Ambulance was hardly ever in quarters during my visits. The Engine ran a lot also. I believe that there were two chief's buggies quartered there also. I was always curious to visit as many CFD houses whenever I came to Chicago on a vacation or short visit. Seeing these rigs was quite an inspiration to me as a young fireman. Thank you Fire Replicas for capturing these models in all of their glory!

Outstanding details
The truck is fantastic looking, again Fire Replicas nailed the cab curve of the ALF. The details on the model are outstanding looking, this will look great next to my ALF engine 1!
